Toyota’s luxury division, Lexus, hosted the 12 winners of its Lexus Design Awards competition at the 2013 Salone del Mobile in Milan.
The brief for the competition was fairly loose, encapsulating solely a requirement for motion, which designers interpreted in their own manner. Our personal favorites included BScooter, a Swiss Army knife-inspired electric folding scooter, and Inaho, a series of lights with sensors that resembled reeds of wheat in a field blowing in the wind.
Lexus also commissioned Japanese architects Toyo Ito and Akihisa Hirata to create a sculpture that represented the company’s design ethos. Click here for the full story on their architectural installation.
