Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster
The 2014 Aventador Roadster, first seen at the Shanghai auto show this year, is an example of Lamborghini’s deliberate intentions to be known as the ‘extreme’ Italian supercar company.
The bright lime, fluorescent green paint shone brightly in the late afternoon California sunlight and successfully attracted every spectator walking by.
One of a few models created to celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary, the Aventador Roadster is “extreme, unexpected and very Italian,” as confirmed by Automobili Lamborghini Head of Design Filippo Perini.
But the car of the show this year was undeniably a 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400s, owned by Mark and Michelle Jansen of Australia. Besides being one of the most beautiful vehicles ever produced, this Miura is especially unique because it’s only one of the few right-hand-drive models ever built. Of the 764 Miuras built, only 20 were made in this configuration.
The Concorso Italiano is one of the highlights of the Monterey Car Week festivities. And while this year the focus was clearly skewed in favor of the many Lamborghinis on show, it remains nevertheless a fine mix of some of the best Italian automobiles on show.
