Citroen, another automaker to branch out into home furnishing at the 2013 Salone del Mobile, revealed its latest creation at this year’s international furniture fair: a sofa whose stylistic codes reflect the elegance and refinement of the DS line.
Created by Style Citroen, a division of the French company that draws inspiration from beyond the creation of the automobile, the DS sofa encompasses key elements of contemporary furniture design, with lines that evoke fluidic movement. The sofa and offers two areas in which the aesthetic marries usage: a chair, whose back is in the shape of a shark’s fin, and the couch, with tooled leather that recalls classic sports of the past.
The main volume sits on a broad base, with a support structure — a tribute to the iconic ‘chaise’ by Ray and Charles Eames. With a seat fully upholstered in leather, DS guilloche on the support structure highlighted by a carmine red outline, and a luminous band of the same color, the DS sofa is a tribute to the materials that characterize prestigious brands.
