Ondrej Jirec’s work showcases a masterful understanding of surfacing and transition as well as brand and heritage. All of his Art Center graduation projects drew on the past yet looked distinctly modern.
Our favorite was his Cadillac Estill supercar concept, which featured sheer sides and layered treatments on the front and rear fascia along with suspension and drivetrain components displayed like jewelry.
It is particularly difficult to evolve a company’s design language when that company’s current design language is not only bold, but also successful. Yet we feel Jirec has accomplished that very feat. We’d love to see Cadillac moving forward in this direction.
