The Volkswagen XL1 is one of the most innovative vehicles to grace the roads in the last century. The innovative two-seater is a triumph in efficiency, from its 800cc two-cylinder plug-in diesel powertrain to its ultra-slippery exterior design and minimalist interior.
Volkswagen brought the car to the UK to celebrate the Queen’s coronation and to drive up the hill at Lord March’s Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year. We were invited to drive the new car during its pit stop in London, where we interviewed exterior design manager Peter Wouda to find out more about its design.
