Ross Lovegrove on the Renault Twin’Z

Ross Lovegrove is a world-renowned industrial designer. He’s designed everything from furniture to lighting and consumer products like Walkmans for Sony and computers for Apple. His work has been featured in countless exhibitions in museums worldwide and permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MOMA) and London’s Design Museum. But he’s never designed a car.

That all changed when he was approached by Renault design director Laurens van den Acker. His studio worked in close collaboration with the French automaker’s design team, which transferred his ideas into a moving vehicle presented at the annual Salone del Mobile in Milan earlier this year. And just as his fondness of biomimicry is evident in every one of his many industrial design pieces, this passion is not lost on the Twin’Z concept.

We caught up with the acclaimed designer for a video interview in Milan. And if you’ve got ten minutes to spare, we can guarantee you’ll enjoy this one.
