Maserati Alfieri Concept Design Process Illustrated By Its Creators

You’ve probably read our story on the Alfieri concept presented at the 2014 Geneva motor show.

Now, Maserati has released a video with Fiat Group design director Lorenzo Ramaciotti; Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Lancia head of design Marco Tencone; and exterior chief designer Giovanni Ribotta, illustrating the development process of the Alfieri.

Maserati isn’t traditionally in the habit of making concept cars. In the wake of the fact that few companies ever do anymore, it’s strange to see one emerge from the Centro Stile. In fact, Maserati’s barely ever made cars developed without the help of longtime collaborator Pininfarina. This could be an interesting precursor of things to come.

We’ll publish our own, less formal interview with Marco Tencone next week.
